Keeping each other accountable

Think about your trait and the whole class and how we will keep each other accountable to our values that we have created?  What will we do if we see or hear someone not following our vales? What will be the best way for us to get people back on track?(Trust, Participation, respect, posityivity, patience)

  1. One of the main things to keep in mind if someone is not following the values is positivity. Just because someone else is not following the values doesnt mean that we can forget about them, so we have to remember to encourage them or remind them in a positive way. For example, if someone isnt participating, instead of yelling at them, use positive words to get them to participate.

  2. It's important to be polite and respectful to the person that's not following the values, rather than freaking out and yelling at them. This will keep a more positive environment and you will be setting a good example by being the bigger person. If someone is disrespecting someone else, in a respectful manner, put an end to the rudeness and bring the person that was being disrespected back into a more positive and encouraging classroom environment.

  3. I feel as though the closer that we get through the activities that we do we won't have to worry so much about people not following our values. If we form a close bond with the class then obviously people won't not be showing respect and what not. If someone was to not be following our values i'm sure that someone would step in and say something because our whole class is a team. Most of our values have to do with more than just ourselves so I hope people realize its not just all about them, it's about everyone.

  4. Although I wasn't there for most of class on Friday, I still do think that it's very important to hold each other accountable for the things that we have written down as our goals for this class. We need to be able to trust one and other to have a successful year, and it all starts with being able to trust that each person will do their best to hold true to each of these goals.

  5. If someone isn't following our values, basically all we would have to do to get them back on track is to demonstrate the values ourselves. By being positive, repsectful, patient, and encouraging, we can easily rub off on that one person. We would also be showing leadership by doing this and hopefully that would rub off too.

  6. As this class begins to get closer, we begin to understand what it really means to respect everyone around us. That being on of the many values we created for ourselves, I feel like we'll learn not to let ourselves get to the point of forgetting them. I hope that we won't have to tell people that they're not following our values..... We can be accountable for others by making sure we create a environment that we as a group believe in, not just a few people. Don't let people get off track in the first place...

  7. If someone is not following what the gym class is doing, the class should not immediately yell at them, but try to see what is keeping them from participating. We should give them support and positivity to help them get back on the right track. As a group, we should make sure not to exclude people in the first place. Listen to what everyone has to say.

  8. I think it is important to be understanding , but also encouraging when someone is not following the values. Understanding because maybe they are having a bad day and they just can't focus and them not respecting the values is not entirely their fault. Encouraging because like you said when we walk through the gym doors we are leaving Fremd behind so we should leave our extra baggage that we carry with us free too and just enjoy ourselves even if it is only for the hour. We need to all work together to succeed with our values.

  9. If someone is not following the class is doing, I think we should not immediately let he/she back to the track because that maybe cause more problem on later or soon. I think we should first ask or listen what that person's reason for not following and then let he/she back to track. And if this happen that mean we have to change the way so that in later on we don't have problem with this. I think is trust might get people back to track because I think this "trust" is the first basics step for this class.

  10. I don't think that we will have a problem with people not following our values. The people I've talked to so far in this class are all really nice. If they are straying from our values, it might be because they are having a bad day, and we should just be patient with them.

  11. The only person who will stray from our values will be Tim. Other than that we should be fine.

  12. Trust is very important for this class because it's something that may take a time to build. As classmates, even if we don't trust that person, we should trust one another little by little by giving them a chance by talking to them and working together as a team or in partners. People may be discouraged if they find out they aren't trusted, so patience is needed to gain trust.

  13. I think it is important that we all demonstrate the values we set for the class. I feel as though when we grow and develop as a class these values will be easy for us and sort of a second nature. if someone is not demonstrating our values, be polite and talk to them. maybe something is wrong and you could help. -Erin Peiss

  14. Listen and be aware of each other in class. We are classmates and people as a whole. We should honestly watch each others backs. In class and out. My group had respect and I think this is important in life and in general...I think we should talk to our classmates outside of class to keep that family aspect.

  15. If someone is not following what the gym class is doing, we should take a moment and step in their shoes, because there must be a reason why that person is skeptical to participate. By being empathetic and understanding, we can use encouragement to bring the class back on track.

  16. In order to keep true to these traits, we should always respect and take responsibility for our actions. If someone messes up or violates one of these things, we should just talk to the person and re tell them the importance of these traits.

  17. If classmates aren't following the traits we made we could try to find out as to why they are not following them so we could help them out. We need to do it respectfully though because we wouldn't want to upset him/her. We should also set a good example so others can have an easier time following the traits by having good role models in class!

  18. I think we should be patient with the classmate. They could just be having a bad day. However, even after we're patient, if the problem persists, we should just tell them calmly what we think they should fix.

  19. I think if someone isn't following the traits we laid out at the beginning of this year, it's important to be patient with them for the first occurrence because everybody makes mistakes, but if they keep doing it, it might be good to say, "Hey, are you okay? Because I've been noticing you've been____(Ex: keeping to yourself, making negative comments) and I just want to make sure everything's alright so we can stick to what we all agreed on at the beginning of the year." This way, you're being gentle about bringing up the issue and not assuming they're doing something wrong because they're just that kind of person.

  20. All of the values we have chosen are important and I think it will help our class to know each other more. We shouldn't judge others when they don't follow our class values but help them see why these values could and should be important to them to. Encouragement, understanding, patience, positivity, respect, trust, & participation are needed from all of us.

  21. I think if other classmates aren't following the traits then we should all try to be patient with them and encourage them. For example, my group had participation so if someone isn't participating as much as they should we should all try to look at other reasons why they are hesitant to participate, such as they might be shy or having a bad day. Then we should encourage them so they know that everyone in class is an important part of making things work.

  22. I think we all need to be responsible for what we say and think about how it might be taken by someone else. Everyone is going to think of things differently, so we all have to watch how we act and say things to one another. This will keep the whole class positive and trusting of one another.

  23. I agree with my classmates in that we should try to look at the root of the problem first. No matter what, we should not scorn the person but just be encouraging and welcoming so that when they are ready to step back into the class they will not feel awkward about it.

  24. I think first of all we should all aspire to set a good example by following these values. We can't judge others who don't if we don't personally show these values through our actions. As we get closer as a class, it will be easier for everyone to be more open. If one person is not following the class values, we should work out the problem as a group in a positive manner, such as talking it through and offering encouragement. I don't think most people would intentionally ignore the values and would change their behavior if they feel that they are an important part of this class.

  25. I think our gym class has a different atmosphere than any other class in general so we need to remeber our values and keep them active during our gym class. If we were to ignore our values we can help one another to realize it and change whatever it was we did wrong. This will keep a postive atmosphere and we will all be respectful towards one another and be able to trust one another.

  26. I think that as we all begin to trust each other, that we will be able to just tell one another to focus. This gym class puts out the vibe that we're all going to be comfortable. But however we tell a classmate to respect the values it must be nice and subtle.

  27. My trait was trust. It takes a lot to gain trust and only a little to lose it. If someone has lost trust in another person, then they both have to work hard to regain that trust. They would have to talk about why they don't trust each other and both work at it to fix whatever happened

  28. The trait that my group focused on was positivity. It is important to be positive throughout this class. When someone is nervous about something or even goofing off, if you have positivity they're more likely to listen to you. If someone is not being positive then it's important that you stay positive.
