Be more aware of how your actions and words effect others in class and life. Be patient and kind and the world should be a better place for all of us. ~Jen Searle
The skits were cheesy, no doubt. But I think that maks a point in itself. The things that we have set as our values/goals ARE cliche and very obvious, but we seem to forget them and that's what makes them so important. Even if we have heard the same message again and again, they're important. Now more than ever.
Even though the skits were really sarcastic, they made an obvious point and sometimes that's the most effective way to get a point across. While being funny, the presenting groups were able to portray the value in our goals and show how by not staying on track, feelings will be hurt. By following through with our goals we should have a pretty good time. -Amy Andersen
Each group did a really good job of portraying our class values in a way that we could all relate to. Even though they were a little silly, the point came across. All the groups showed that positive reinforcement to help people out. This is what we'll have to remember in class.
Our values are important. It's as simple as that. Thanks to our cheesy skits we saw what will happen when we don't follow the values. Also, if and when we have someone in our class veer away from the values, we can apply one of the methods we observed in the skits.
Although we all laughed at funny parts in the skits, we know that the values that the skits portrayed are serious. If we want to make this class work and be able to have fun, we have to watch ourselves and make sure to adhere to these core goals.
I think that the skits were joking and lighthearted but they also portrayed each right and wrong of the quality in a relatable but not over the top manner. I think that we each kind of experienced each of these qualities with our small groups as we were putting these together and then all together as a class when we were watching them. Each had nice ideas and were creative in the way their quality was shown. It kind of sets up the basis that we are going on for the rest of the year.
The cheesiness of skits made our class values seem very obvious. But they also made us realize how easily forgettable they can be at times and how we have to have to be careful that we don't lose sight of our values. ~Marlisa Wang
I think the skits really showed simple ways the students might overlook the values. Little things like not being focused can create a huge issue, which many of the skits showed. They made us more aware of actions we might not think much of. -Taylor Wienold
Even though they skits were cheesy I think we all got to see how each of those values meant something different to us. We all gave ideas of what we thought each value would look like and built a skit from them. I think we were able to learn that listening is sometimes better than talking the whole time because you at times get more out of it.
After watching the skits, I saw how everyone looked differently at the values. Everyone worked well in their groups also so I thought that was cool. As we move along in this class and get to know each other I think our undertandings of the values will mesh and we'll all begin to trust each other and move on from there!
As an observer, I learned the importance of each value through the examples each group showed and show respect as I was watching my classmates perform their skit. As the participant, it was important to come out of my comfort zone to show the class what the importance of trust.
For me, the skits showed the importance of teamwork. I think all of the groups did a good job of this and it showed in the presentations. When the cooperation came into play, many of the other traits such as participation, trust, and fun naturally followed.
It showed us everyone's views on our class values and kind of made it fun. We also had to portray some of those traits in order to successfully do our skits. Overall it was good. -Erin Peiss
From the skits, I was reminded that even when you're kidding about not portraying a characteristic we all agreed on, you're ultimately hurting the group and yourself, so it's important to keep our joking in check and remember our goals for class behavior. -Alaina McCaffrey
I feel that everyone did a really good job at giving good examples and how to fix the bad example. Its good that we took it seriously, but were still able to make them fun with them and make them humorous. -Sarah Bounab
I learned that even though these traits were kind of things taken for granted that everyone should do, often times we dont act accordingly. It showed me ways that things could go wrong and how I should act so that the class can stay in a friendly, supportive environment -Yelin H.
I learned how all these traits are something we don't fully practice everyday and how people have different ideas on certain traits. Also what our class will be working on. It's nice to visually look at how these traits will be in our class.
I learned about each trait in unique ways. Since I was on a trust team, I was able to act out trust and watch how others perceived it. This is the same for all the other traits. I was able to learn what each one meant to other people, and I am now able to use that knowledge to become closer to everyone in class.
I think these skits gave everyone a good perspective on how our gym class should behave, even though some of the skits seemed very obvious. But, even though it may seem clear that you should always pay attention during a trust fall, there are times where someone is dropped because the other person was not paying attention. These skits were a good reminder to what this gym class should be like.
I think these skits helped us see how our actions can affect people in either negative or positive ways. As an observer, i thought the skits were silly at first but saw that they are a reflection of how we should act in order to be successful.
The skits were super cliche and overdramatic. The traits are such that we should be practicing every day, and the skits showed me how easy people forget them. Even though some of the skits were overdramatic, playing off to be unlikely situations, there was definitely truth in them. It's going to be extremely easy to make mistakes in this class (and life) if we don't do our best to continuously practice them.
The skits were really funny, but at the same time they brought up some serious values we should all demonstrate throughout the year. I liked how we all did a "what not to do" part of our skits so we all can have a reminder of how to act in class this year. -Lauren Burke
The skits in class were cliche but effective. They showed everyone in class that all these traits will benefit us in class. Not only should you practice these traits in PE but also in your everyday life.
